Dear family and friends,
So, we don't have much time to e-mail today because libraries are
closed. That means everyone has to
be here, at the family history center instead, so most of this is basically just
copied and pasted from my letter to the president. Sorry if it's boring :)
I would say the highlight of this week was definitely
that we were able to have eight “member-present” lessons. We've really been
working with members a lot lately, trying to get somebody to come with us to
every lesson possible. We've realized that it is really hard to get people to
progress in the gospel if they don't have connections with members. A lot of
those lessons this week were with Heng. Things are looking pretty good with him.
He's building relationships with the members, coming to church, keeping
commitments (for the most part) and he was able to come to a baptism. He even
got to meet our awesome mission president! His only concern is that he doesn't
want to give up his Buddhism. He wants to be both Buddhist and Christian. We
just kinda just told him to continue to come to church, read, and meet with
us. Then we bore our testimonies.
Hopefully, as his faith increases, he will be willing to stop the Buddhism.
Other than that, we're still looking for more Hengs and
Theas that we can teach. We have some ideas of people to try through the ward,
so hopefully that turns out well. We are so blessed to have such great members
who help us, especially Ron Chin and Sunraa. They are both just our heroes,
always willing to come out with us.
They have such strong testimonies to share with the people we teach.
Also, I feel like we're really gaining the trust of the Bishop as well. He's
giving us referrals and has asked us to speak in sacrament meeting next week
too. We hope it's all goes well.
I'm doing great! Elder Sturgell and I are getting used to
being in our apartment with just the two of us now. It's a lot more quiet and a
little less exciting but we're adjusting :) Elder Skidmore actually got
transferred out to an English ward last week, so now there are only five of us
Cambodian missionaries in the mission. It's different now that he's not
here. We feel like a piece of the
puzzle is missing. But we are
trying to step up and fill the void.
