Hello family and friends!
So this week was transfer week. No changes, still the same area and the
same companion, except Elder Dain will be going home October 2nd. He's
really struggling right now, poor guy. It's hard because it affects our
efforts with the work. But we're trying to work through things
together.
…. went pretty well and had a good
turnout. President actually showed up for most of it even though he couldn't
understand any of the talks and stuff. But the spirit was there and it was
enjoyable for everyone.
Another highlight was our lesson with Peter. This week we
taught him the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We were finally able to get a
member there too. Right now, Peter is still just trying to get an answer. He
admits he doesn't feel like he's put in his share of effort yet. He knows
that that could be part of the reason why he hasn't had a witness. But we're
continuing to meet with him and teach him and we're hoping he will be diligent
in keeping his commitments and soon become a progressing investigator.
As far as Jimmy and Sandy, we're still trying to get them to progress as
well. Jimmy said straight up that this (what we're teaching him) is what he
believes. That Buddhism is his family's religion but that this is his religion.
Nike (our awesome 2nd counselor in the bishopric) said he has worked with their
family in the past. Hopefully when we have ward splits this week Nike
will be able to talk to their Dad and they will be able to start coming to
church.
Alana is moving to Cambodia in 6 months. She said she wanted to try and
get baptized because she's been investigating for two years now and she thinks
it's time she should try it out. However, she said that when she gets to
Cambodia, she's just going to go back to being a Buddhist monk. Hmm. We
talked about why we're baptized and that it’s important to get baptized for the
right reasons. We’ll see what happens there. For right now we're just
going to try and work with her inactive daughter and she how that effects Alana.
So those are our investigators. We taught a lot of less actives and some
active members too this week. We had some really good lessons with them. Still
having trouble getting referrals from the members but we will continue to
brainstorm about why that is and what we can do to help there.
