105 yr old Cambodian Man!

Dear Family and Friends,

So we had another great week! We've been talking to a lot of people, teaching a ton, and just having an overall good time. We feel very blessed that we continue to find new investigators! Lately, to help with our finding, we’ve been meeting with members that live in the area we want to tract. We teach these good members about praying for missionary work success and we invite them to pray for us as we knock their neighborhood over the next couple days. We also invite them to come and teach with us when their neighbors allow us to come back. (and some always do) It's been working really well. We're finding that members are super excited to be involved. This one member in particular has really been getting involved. (She might even become the next Sunra!) Her name is Paneda. She opens up her home to anyone we teach! We've already had four of five lessons in her home with two different people over the last two weeks. Anyways, a cool experience with Paneda-we stopped by real quick to use her bathroom and we had a prayer before we left. We invited her to pray and to include in her prayer that we would have success that night. She did. Afterward we went directly to this guy we had been trying to catch for weeks. Paneda's prayer must have helped because for the first time we actually got to meet with him! And it was a great lesson! We taught him about the restoration. He said he would come back to church. Tonight we're going to go see him again!

Last night, we met with this other member of our Ward, Sister Miing Cheng. We've been stopping by for several weeks trying to talk to her about missionary work but she’s very busy. She works at a barber shop. All on her own, a friend of hers said that Buddha wasn't giving her the help she needed. This friend started asking Sister Cheng about Jesus Christ. Sister Cheng decided to give her a Book of Mormon, one in Khmer for her friend, and the other in English for her friend’s kids. Cool! Sister Cheng then said she is going to continue talking with her friend, and she said she will give us a call soon to have a lesson in her home. We decided to give her the “Tracting-in-her-neighborhood-and-will-you-pray-for-our-success-and-then-when-we-do-find-someone-will-you-come-out-with-us” lesson. She said yes and yes and even said she'd even be willing to leave the shop early to make an appointment. Awesome! We’re just really excited right now with our members that are doing such a great job sharing the gospel! Especially after the “Work of Salvation” Broadcast.

President Tew and his wife went around to all the Zones and gave a training. It was really powerful! President Tew and his wife are going to be amazing! You can really tell they are here to serve with all they've got. They just want to make the biggest impact possible. I actually had the thought while they were giving their training that Mom and Dad would make a great Mission President and Sister Mission President.

Another cool experience we had this week just happened yesterday. We were riding our bikes down Anaheim Street and we saw an old Cambodian man trying to push his electric wheel chair across the intersection. This man was hardly making any progress. We quickly decided to pull over and go and help him. After getting him back into his seat we asked him where he lived. It was not really close. We started pushing him along the sidewalk towards his home and just talked. Turns out he's 105 years old! His wheel chair battery had died! (What are the odds) He was actually trying to make it back home by pushing his electric wheel chair all the way home alone! Anyways, once we finally got to his house we talked to him a little bit more and gave him our number. We told him to call if there was anything else we could help with. As we left we just got to thinking that Heavenly Father really is aware of each of our needs as He looks out for His children. I don't know what this man would've done without us. I don't think he would've made it all the way home. We were saying he might not live too much longer but that we hope he will remember us in the Spirit World. We hope someday he will accept the gospel. I'm sure he will. I know we were sent to him by God. I mean, what are the chances three white Cambodian speaking missionaries just happen to cross paths with this guy just in time to help? I love this gospel.
