Dear family and friends,
So tomorrow is transfer day. I can't believe this is my last transfer. Yesterday, when I saw the transfer fax it kinda hit me that my name is never going to be on a transfer fax again. (or at least not for a really long time.) This has given me a sense of urgency that I plan to carry with me throughout these last 6 weeks of my mission. I'm calling it "the final countdown." Basically Elder Low and I are setting goals so that this transfer we work harder than we’ve ever worked before. We want to be more effective and more efficient than ever. We're excited and ready to go.
Something we're doing from now on is that every day we drop off little notes with scriptures on them as part of our morning run. We leave them on our investigator’s door. It's a great way to have daily contact, and a good way to get them into the Book of Mormon, especially the Cambodian speaking one's who don't text. We've never had more effective runs! It’s been great! And so far we’ve had good results. For example, last Sunday, it led to one of our investigators randomly showing up to church after being out of contact with us for weeks. And then, just this morning we actually ran into our investigator Lorn while we were dropping off our little daily note. We got our first appointment with him in a month! Awesome! We'll be going by to meet with him tomorrow with a member. We’re excited and hopeful to see what kind of impact this is going to have on our investigators.
Some sad news, Elder Sam 2 went home. After doing everything we could possibly think of, he decided he still wanted to go home. We wish the best for him in Cambodia. And now we are ready to get back to our normal work schedule and focus more on our investigators.
Please pray for Narin. She is close to making that final step to be baptized. However, in order for her to do that, she'll have to pretty much give up her other church that she’s attending along with ours. That is going to be very hard for her.
That's it for this week.
Happy New Year!
Love, Elder Hicken
